HV Cap Replacement Issue

Postby VE1CHS » Fri Jun 17, 2011 9:46 pm

Trying to replace HV caps in a 902 DM. There is a tan board on bottom side of rig that is some how attached to the green cap board, which can be removed from the top side. Do you have to unsolder the two tabs on the tan diode and resistor board, in order to "release" the green PC board with the HV caps on it, that is then removed from the top side of the rig (3 screws hold it in)? Thank you, Peter, VE1CHS

Yes, see: http://foxtango.org/FT901/FT-901-902%20Web%20Page.htm
There are pictures of the assembly.

I hope it's OK to tag on to this old post.

I too am trying to replace the two high voltage filter caps. The page referred to is useful...up to a point. I have all the various boards removed as described and have the screws out of the board the caps are mounted to so the caps are loose. However, the rectifier board that is below the chassis needs to be pulled through the hole in the chassis. But how? The board is larger than the hole. I've spent an hour wiggling things around every way I can think of and it's still stuck.
