In an earlier message, the question: "how do the 6 & 2 meter converters work?" was asked. I can understand the response given which describes how to tune frequencies with them... but I don't understand the basic operation of them as related to using the receiver and transmitter together.
Does the converter just provide added receive functionality, or is there some interaction with the transmitter - giving the set the ability to also transmit on 6 or 2?
My buddy Jeff K7ZSA and I have just purchased a "twins" set from an eBay auction - which hasn't been delivered yet. I'm sure there will be more questions and need for information, especially if there are problems we aren't anticipating. I surely do recognize a great source of assistance when it's been needed and appreciate all the help for everyone who as received it. It's great to know we're not alone in this. We also have a 6 piece set of FT-101E, including amp. which we are tickled to have.
Old-timers like Jeff and I really have a soft spot for this stuff.

Brian;
The 6 and 2 meter converters are for receive only. If you want 6 and 2 meter transmitt/receive capabality, you can add the FTV-250 (2 meter) and the FTV-650B (6 meter) transverters to the twins.
Look in the FL-101 transmitter manual for the hook up diagram and cable requirements.
It can be down loaded from this site.
Any questions, send email. I have several sets of twins.
Jim
