Low output on 2 bands

Postby musketeer58 » Fri Oct 28, 2016 2:16 am

How`s it going troops, this is my first post for quite a long time, hope you`re all well.

I have 2, FT 101E radios both with the same problem that I`m hoping I can get some advice on.

From the 15 to 80 meter bands, I can get around 160 watts output after tune up however, on the 10 and 160 meter bands I can barely get 10 watts. Both radios have the 6JS6C and 12BY7A tubes and I was advised that the 12BY7A tubes need to be replaced but I`m a bit puzzled by that because if that was the case, wouldn`t the output be low on all bands?? I have some new 12BY7A tubes but before I replace them, I thought I would ask here first to get another opinion so, any help and advice would be very much appreciated.

Many thanks in advance.

Adrian
