Two Configurations

Loaded with leading-edge performance capabilities, the FT-2000 continues the tradition of the venerable FT-1000 series and incorporates advanced features from the FTdx-9000. Covering 160 through 6 meters, it replaced the MK-V/Field as Yaesu’s high-end HF offering.

Once in a lifetime will you have a chance to come across such excellence in engineering at your fingertips. The new powerful FT-2000 is the direct descendent of the world-renowned FTdx-9000 series. Comparing weight and size with its big brother, the FT-2000 is definitely smaller and much lighter — but don’t be fooled, it has nothing but class written all over it. Not since the Yaesu FT-101 have we seen so much excitement for a transceiver; considering technology advances and inflation since the Yaesu FT-One sold for nearly $3,000 in 1982, the street value of the FT-2000 looks like a real bargain.

Three-band parametric microphone equalizer

Yaesu-exclusive three-band parametric microphone equalizer with adjustable center frequency.

Up to three optional high-μ tuning high-Q preselector modules for the low bands (160, 80, 40, 30 / 20 m). Permeability of the μ-Tune circuit is adjusted via precision stepper motor; manual override or automatic tuning allows precise adjustment.

Receiver & DSP

Strong receiver design provides wide dynamic range and high IP3 with 1st IF roofing filters.

Band scope display

View band scope, audio scope, and oscilloscope displays on an external monitor (with optional DMU-2000 data management unit).

Graphical display of IF filter pass-band for visual confirmation of interference-fighting adjustments. Unique “block diagram” layout confirms function status, antenna selection, attenuators, IPO amplifier stages, AGC, and more.

Precision analog meters included. Powerful 32-bit floating-point DSP (TMS320C6713), adopted from the FTdx-9000 — IF shift, variable bandwidth, notch, and pass-band contour tuning.

RF Front End

VRF preselector stage

Outstanding RF stage filtering: VRF (variable RF filter) high-Q preselector stage with narrower bandwidth than main band-pass filters. 31 combinations of L and C selected by high-quality mechanical relays; large T-80 toroids or air-core inductors ensure high Q over 1.8–50 MHz.

Front end roofing filters

69.45 MHz first IF includes three roofing filters: 15 kHz, 6 kHz, and 3 kHz, for superb close-in performance. Roofing filters may be selected automatically or on the fly.

  • ±20 kHz “Quick Split” feature
  • IF speech processor and IF monitor
  • CW wave-shaping selections
  • CW message keyer; visual and audible CW spot
  • Dedicated data input jack for PSK31/RTTY

Dual SO-239 HF antenna inputs #1 & #2 plus 50 MHz SO-239 connection. AC mains and 13.8 VDC 22 A DC power supply can run on mains or via an external DC supply.
